Dorothy “Dot” A. DeZiel, age 74, of Buffalo, formerly of Maple Lake and Annandale, died Friday, March 30, 2018 at her home while under hospice care knowing she was greatly loved by her family.
Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake with Rev. Alex Becker officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Dorothy Ann DeZiel was born September 18, 1943 to Archibald and Dorothy (French) Raphael in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Dorothy grew up in St. Cloud where she attended school and graduate with the Class of 1961 from St. Cloud Technical High School. On July 7, 1962 she was united in marriage to James A. DeZiel at St. Augustine Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Dot and Jim made their home in Fridley before moving to Maple Lake in the late 1970’s. They then moved to their Clearwater Lake home, where they spent many years, before recently moving to their current home in Buffalo. Over the years, Dot worked for various healthcare institutions while also raising her three children. She was a member of the Maple Lake Legion & VFW Auxiliary, as well as the Buffalo Legion Auxiliary. Of all of Dot’s hobbies and interests, the time she was able to spend with her family was always what she enjoyed and cherished the most. Her fun-loving personality made her an instant joy to be in the presence of. Her gentle touch, kindness, and unwavering love will always be treasured by those dear to her.
Dot is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jim of Buffalo; children, Doug (significant other, Lori Kallunki) of Annandale, Mike (Dana) of Buffalo, and Jodi (Erich) Otto of South Haven; 5 grandchildren, Megan, James, Hanna, Madi, and Olivia; 1 great grandson, Anthony; siblings, Marilyn Schwartz of Pelican Rapids and Jim (Linda) Raphael of Edina; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Archibald and sister, Elizabeth Krotz.
