David C. Youngquist, Age 80, of Annandale passed from this life to be with Jesus on February 8th, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with stage 4 cancer.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
David Carl Youngquist was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 15, 1936 to Henning Emanual & Clara Louise (Peterson) Youngquist. He was baptized on April 10, 1936 and confirmed in his faith on June 29, 1952 both at Sillerud Lutheran Church near Balaton, Minnesota. David graduated from Balaton High School in 1954, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mankato State College in 1958 with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Industrial Arts. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Southern Illinois University in 1968. David was united in marriage to Doris Mae Myhre on June 14th, 1959 at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, Minnesota. Dave began his teaching career in Stewart, Iowa prior to moving to Annandale where he taught Math and Computer Science for several years. In his spare time, Dave loved to golf, hunt, fish, and tend to his garden. He was also a skilled woodworker with a practical sense of humor, often reflected in his craftsmanship. Dave was a devoted family man, a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a good friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his family and several close friends.
Dave is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Youngquist of Annandale, MN; sons, Bryan Youngquist of Buffalo, MN, Brad (Jolene) Youngquist of Moorhead, MN, and Jeff (Kathy) Youngquist of Oakdale, MN; grandchildren, Kelsey (Andrew) Singer, Kendra Youngquist, Zachary Youngquist, and Shanda Youngquist; sister, Helen Schmidt of Danville, CA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Edmund Youngquist, Ethel Blackwood, Richard Youngquist, Mary Hazard, and Dorothy Johnson.
Zachary Youngquist, Andrew Singer, Ron Johnson, Paul Iverson, and Ron Remington will serve as pallbearers. Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
