David R. Kahn, age 79, of Buffalo, Minnesota, died Thursday, January 9, 2020, at his home at The Glenn in Buffalo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2020, at Church of St. Timothy, Maple Lake, with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.
David Richard Kahn was born March 29, 1940, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Nathan and Mable Frances (Rastad) Kahn. David grew up in Minneapolis and attended school there, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1957. He furthered his education at the University of Minnesota, earning a degree in mathematics. On September 9, 1961, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth M. Command in Richfield. They were blessed with 4 children, 3 sons and 1 daughter. They later divorced. David worked for EMPI Inc., and Heidelberg Engineering, selling various medical equipment until his retirement in 2004. In his youth, David was an avid baseball and football player. His favorite winter sport was speed skating. He was a well-known champion speed skater, awarded with countless regional and national speed skating medals. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. David experienced a true conversion and loved God with all of his heart. He was known for his beautiful singing at church. He participated in many bible studies and regularly received the gift of the Lord in the holy sacrifice of the mass.
David is survived by his children, Douglas (Emily) of Atlanta, GA; Steve (Tina) of Eden Prairie, MN; Paul (Roxy) of Ontonagon, MI; and Laura (Steve) Warner of Maple Lake, MN; 10 grandchildren (Sarah, Hannah, Gabriel, Joseph, Rachael, Nicholas, Penelope, Chloe, Maximillian, and Jeremy); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Mabel Frances; brother, Douglas; and three half-brothers, Alvin, Robert, and Ronald Johnson.
