Darlene C. Westrud, age 74, of Maple Lake, died Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society of Howard Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2019 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with Fr. Andrew Stueve as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Chatham Township. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Sunday, August 4 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. on August 5 at the funeral chapel.
Darlene Catherine Westrud was born June 10, 1945, at the St. Cloud Hospital to Leander and Mary Ellen (Daily) Blake. She graduated from Maple Lake High School with the Class of 1963. On April 4, 1964, she was united in marriage to Harland Westrud at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. In addition to caring for her family, Darlene provided daycare in her home. She worked in the deli at Roger's Amoco for many years. Darlene enjoyed music, traveling, animals, especially dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Kimberly (Jim) Zumbusch of Maple Lake, Jeffrey (Jessica) Westrud of Rockford and Allyson (Gary) Dressel of Winsted; six grandchildren, Emily, Faith, Nathan and Clare Dressel, Jacob and Karsyn Zumbusch; brother, Tim (Jackie) Blake of Maple Lake; sister, Diane (Steve) Heinsch of New Hope; and sister-in-law MaryAnn Blake of South Saint Paul. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Don and Tom Blake.
Krista Elsenpeter and Sarah Goelz will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
