Darla Kay Soholt

Darla Soholt, age 50, of Annandale, formerly of Detroit Lakes, died on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 at Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church near Detroit Lakes with visitation one hour prior to the service. A second memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Annandale Evangelical Free Church in Annandale. Burial will follow services on June 2 at Lakeview Cemetery, Maple Lake.

Darla Kay Soholt was born in Detroit Lakes on August 18, 1967 to Kenny Kiehl and Ginger Ballard. Her mother married Charles Carlstom and he adopted Darla when she was five. Darla grew up in Audubon and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School with the Class of 1985. She later earned an associates degree from Detroit Lakes Technical College. Darla worked at Minnesota Relay Services in Moorhead and in collections at Fingerhut in St. Cloud and ACF in St. Cloud. She also sold Mary Kay products and essential oils. Darla was married to Brian Soholt on March 3, 2017 in Buffalo. She attended Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church in Detroit Lakes all of her life. Darla enjoyed riding horseback, crocheting, sewing, cooking, gardening, shopping and photography.

She is survived by her husband Brian of Annandale; daughter Jessica (Jeff) Westrud of Rockford; son Brandon Oliver, Jr. of Hamptonville, NC; mother Ginger Carlstrom of Maple Lake; father Kenny Kiehl of Detroit Lakes; step sons Ronald (Jessi) Soholt of Sun Prairie, WI and Justin Soholt of Lake Mills, WI; sisters Tammie (Marty) Jenson of Detroit Lakes and Stacie Folstrom of Waubun; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Darla is preceded in death by her adoptive father Charles Carlstrom; brother Donnie Carlstrom; and grandparents Esther and Herman Carlstrom, Ginger "Clarissa" and Raymond Ballard, and Mary and Arthur Kiehl.
