Betty Ann Olson was born March 31, 1929 in Clear Lake Township to Albert and Hannah (Haroldson) Swingley. She grew up and attended a country school in Silver Creek Township and graduated from Maple Lake High School with the Class of 1947. On March 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to David Olson in Buffalo. They lived in Waverly for a few years before moving to Annandale on Excelsior Avenue; in 2015 Betty moved to Ash Street in Annandale. In addition to caring for her family, Betty worked as a waitress, mended, sewed, cleaned and pressed clothing out of her home, and she set hair at Goldendale Apartments. After her beloved husband, David, went to heaven on May 9, 2010, her granddaughter, Jessica, became her devoted caregiver. Betty was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church, serving on WELCA and as a greeter, and ironing pressing and cleaning the church's linens. Betty enjoyed crocheting, knitting, bird watching, gardening, reading, cheering on the Minnesota Twins, working on puzzles and playing cards. She cherished family get-togethers and reunions. Betty made guests feel welcome at the home that she took great pride in. Her greatest passion was to watch and listen to her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her sons, Bruce of Kimball and Carl of Alpha; five grandchildren, Jessica Olson (Daniel Heinen), James Olson, Matthew Bronstad, Brian Olson (fiance Lisa Ludwig) and Michelle Olson; four step grandchildren, Ricky (Michelle) Bronstad, Gary Bronstad, Janine Nelson and Brenda (Brent) Moritz; six great grandchildren, Wyatt, Elizabeth, Alex, Haden, Nadia and Lydia; and nine step great grandchildren, Annie, Charles, Madeline, Gabriel, Nicholas, Makenzie, Trystan, Ahlya and Brent, Jr.; many nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Judy Olson; brothers, Lloyd, Ray, Grant and Albert Swingley; sisters, Jennie Larson, Edna Munson, Eleanor Anderson and Gladys Peterson; and three infant siblings.

The casket bearers will be James, Brian, Jessica and Michelle Olson, Matthew and Ricky Bronstad, Janine Nelson, Brenda Moritz and Wyatt Heinen. Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
