Alice M. Elliott, age 84, of Maple Plain, formerly of Annandale, died on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park as a result of a stroke.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the Annandale Evangelical Free Church in Annandale with Pastor Jeff Droogsma officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.
Alice Marie Elliott was born May 21, 1934 in Milaca to Henry and Anna (Erickson) Jacobsen. She grew up in North Minneapolis and attended North High School. She was united in marriage on July 11, 1953 to Richard Leroy Elliott at Bethel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They raised their family in Northeast Minneapolis and later moved to Annandale. They owned and operated Elliott's Truck Stop where Alice ran the restaurant and motel. While Richard was Chief of Police in Annandale, Alice answered the police and fire department dispatch calls from home and relayed any calls by CB radio. Alice and Richard moved to Las Vegas in 1984 and returned to Annandale in 1990. Alice found joy working as a Foster Grandmother at the Annandale Schools for 17 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and playing games like aggravation, 500 and Bingo. Alice was artistic and loved drawing and coloring.
Alice is survived by her children Linda (Chuck) Yanish of Kimball, Debbie (Tim) Watkins of Annandale, Cheryl Elliott of Annandale, Mark (Mary "Ginger") Elliott of Rice and Michelle (Steve) Robinson of Brooklyn Park; 11 grandchildren Lisa, Jerry, Matt, Justin, Jarrid, Jordan, Ryan, Shane, Dustin, Bryton and Daniel; 20 great grandchildren; sister Betty (Jerry) Lee of Grand Marais; sisters-in-law Vera Jacobsen and Sue Elliott; and brother-in-law David Day. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2016; parents Henry and Anna Jacobsen; brothers Gordy and Lewis Jacobsen; baby sister Marion Jacobsen; and grandson Jason Elliott.
The casket bearers will be Jerry Yanish, Paul Bredeson, Jarrid Elliott, Jordan Elliott, Ryan Pearcy and Matt Watkins. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
