A. John Roller

Arthur John Roller, age 78, of Annandale, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Annandale United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Keen officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at the church.

Arthur John Roller was born June 4, 1939 in Litchfield, Minnesota to LeRoy Arthur and Amy Marcella (Johnson) Roller. John grew up in Saint Louis Park, where he attended school and graduated with the Class of 1957.  John then attended the University of Minnesota for 2 years and went on to earn his accounting degree from the Academy of Accountancy.  On August 15, 1959 John was united in marriage to Sonja J. Wicklund in St. Louis Park. John’s first job was with Strand & Roe Accounting in St. Louis Park, after that he worked 10 years for Automatic Engineering & Manufacturing in Fridley. John moved to Annandale in the 1970’s where he owned and operated John’s Pro Shop and Annandale Plumbing & Heating. John then began his 22-year career as a financial planner with Ozark National Life/NIS Financial Services. John always enjoyed being around sports. In his younger years, he participated in various sports, including track & field. For many years, he held the St. Louis Park High School pole vault record. He also enjoyed playing volleyball with his friends and family throughout the years. As his children were growing up, John volunteered many hours coaching their teams. John was also an avid Minnesota sports teams fan, always cheering on the Twins, Vikings, Wild, and Timberwolves. He took pride in his family and cherished spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter.  

John is survived by his wife Sonja of Annandale; daughters Deborah (Bob) Woelfel of Annandale and Laurie (Steve) Dick of South Haven; son Daniel and significant other Mona Steinhaus of Annandale; grandchildren Jessica, Breann, Jenna, Tyler and LeRoy; great granddaughter Artemis.  He was preceded in death by his parents LeRoy A. and Amy M. (Johnson) Roller.

Pallbearers will be Bob Woelfel, Steve Dick, David Yanagisawa, Sam Szpek, Tyler Dick, LeRoy Roller, Jessica Dick, Breann Yanagisawa, Jenna Woelfel, Afton Windsperger, Beka Grode. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
