    Ronald H. Oakland, age 88, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, died Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Annandale Care Center.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. George Kallumkulkudy as the Celebrant.  Burial will be 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Assembly Area 5.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, Osseo and one hour prior to the funeral, Tuesday, at the church.  Memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.

    Ronald H. Oakland was born February 3, 1927 in Bemidji to Raymond and Ada (Fulton) Oakland.  He graduated from De La Sal High School, Minneapolis.  He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII.  On July 21, 1951, he was united in marriage to Elaine Jarrard at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Muscatine, Iowa.  Ron worked as the Creative Director for Knox Reeves Advertising, co-owner of Oakland-Griffen-Mogell Advertising Agency and Senior Creative Director at Bozell Integrated Marketing, all of downtown Minneapolis.  He received many awards for his work in advertising, including the coveted CLIO and OLAF awards.  Ron developed many national advertising campaigns for National Presto Industries.  He served as Chairman of the Board for the Salvation Army in Minneapolis and was integral in the building of the Harbor House.

    Ron is survived by his wife Elaine; children Mark (Jan) of Minneapolis, Susan of Minneapolis, Greg (Marcy) of South Haven, Mary (Ron) Stephens of Tracy, Margaret (Rory) Showers of Blaine, Judy (Steve) Steinmetz of Jim Falls, WI, Steve (Sandy) of Brooklyn Park and Dan of Maple Grove; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his mother Ada; father Raymond; step father Mike Beczkalo; son David; great grandson Logan Stephens; and sister Mary Ann Dedanko.

    The casket bearers will be Mark, Greg, Dan and Steve Oakland, Ron Stephens, Dr. Steve Steinmetz and Rory Showers.  Military honors will be provided by the Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad.
