Richard A. Lorentz, age 70, of Buffalo, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his home with his family at his side.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church with Pastor Orval Wirkkala officiating. Burial will follow at Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake, with a prayer and remembrance service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the church.
Richard Arnold Lorentz was born March 8, 1946 in St. Cloud to Arnold and Ruth (Borchardt) Lorentz. He graduated from Annandale High School with the Class of 1964. Dick served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he was stationed in Germany. On March 29, 1969, Richard was united in marriage to Jennifer Elsie Kangas at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Maple Lake. Dick worked for nearly 30 years as a sheet metal worker at Mammoth Nortek in Chaska, retiring in 2008. He volunteered at the United Way and loved to help others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being the neighborhood mechanic, working on cars and tractors, tinkering and church.
Richard is survived by his wife Jennifer; children Bill (Jennifer) Lorentz of Buffalo, Briita (Corey) Dunaiski of Big Lake, Brent (Keatha) Lorentz of Buffalo, Becky (Shawn) Meyer of Waite Park and Bryan Lorentz of Big Lake; nine grandchildren Andrew, Allyson, Jacob, Ethan, Alyssa, Elizabeth, Becca, Jasmine and Cooper; sisters and brothers Judy Bishman of Chaska, Dennis (Jo) Lorentz of Buffalo, Jane (Larry) Elsenpeter of Clearwater, Gloria Brabant of Mound, Gail Uecker of Howard Lake, Bruce (Helen) Lorentz of Lester Prairie and Ted (Joy) Lorentz of Annandale; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bob and Betty Kangas, Earl and Margie Kangas, Margaret and Marc Hedlund, Bunny and Ray Primus and Robert Tersteeg. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Paul Bishman and Carl Kangas; and sisters-in-law LuAnn Lorentz and Betty Tersteeg.
The casket bearers will be Craig, Conway and Duane Kangas, Danny Lorentz, Eric Brabant and Arnie Elsenpeter. The honorary casket bearers will be Ted, Bruce, and Dennis Lorentz, Bob Kangas, Bruce Wittman, Ray Primus, Marc Hedlund, Phil Baldwin and Donny Goodale. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
