Mike “Bear” Preston, age 62, of South Haven died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball with Rev. Steven Rowland officiating.  Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery near Little Falls.  Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service, Monday, both at the funeral chapel.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Michael Allen Preston was born July 6, 1951 in Greenview, Illinois to Robert and Dorothy (Seaman) Preston.  He graduated from Greenview High School with the Class of 1969.  Bear served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War; he was stationed in Panama.  On June 14, 1975, Michael was united in marriage to Kathleen Marie Knutson at Advent Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids.  Bear worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Postal Clerk from 1979-1997.  He was a member of the Kimball American Legion Post 261 and the Disabled American Veterans.  Bear was a huge St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan.  He enjoyed fishing, talking politics and socializing.

He is survived by his wife Kathi; daughter Kelly Marie Preston Felt of South Haven; son Robert “Bobby” Preston of Spring Lake Park; grandsons Dillon and Preston Felt; brothers Rory of South Haven, Alex (Debbie) of Bull Pitt, IL, Brian (Betty) of Leachville, AR and Jon Preston of San Antonio, TX; sister Sandy (Brad) Sharlow of Springfield, IL; mother-in-law Elvera Knutson; and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents Robert & Dorothy; and father-in-law Clarence Knutson.

The pallbearers will be Rory, Alex, Brian, Jon and Robert Preston and Ray Owens.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dillon John Felt, Preston Allen Felt, Chad Nordling and Paul Story.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
