I am so sorry to see Mel passed away. I met Mel when I was 16 and starting my first job at Jack and Jill. I wasn’t from Annandale and I remember when I started he always had a smile and teased me. He taught me a lot about how to interact and deal with people. Always a friendly smile when you were in the store and you knew you would be greeted with a witty comment from him! It was a true pleasure knowing him. My thoughts are with all of you .

Monday nights at Jack and Jill were the best, Mel was the manger and me the cashier, his nickname for me was "Trouble" and mine for him was "Smelvy", even after I left whenever he saw me, he'd say "hi trouble". I will miss him dearly.

Grandpa Mel will be missed by many, especial us. Bill always enjoyed being Mel’s partner playing Euchre. I will certainly miss all the teasing from him. Always had a smile & wise crack for everyone.
