Marsella Marie Mackereth was born October 25, 1919 to Edward F. and Lily (Haas) Hinz in Crystal, North Dakota.  The family moved to Minnesota to raise their four children on a farm near Kimball. Marsella was confirmed in her faith on September 9, 1934 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1936 and then attended a St. Cloud business school, which led to her employment with Army Glider Pilot Training School in Monticello during World War II. On January 25, 1944, she married Dr. Robert D. Mackereth, DVM. They settled in Annandale to open a veterinary clinic from their home with Marsella maintaining the business records for the clinic. They raised seven children together and were active members of Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale. Marsella was a den mother for scouts, and enjoyed bowling in leagues with friends and her husband. Mars and Bob were founding members of the Kimball Golf Club where she was the Women's Club Champion 18 times. Mars loved family gatherings, and she lived by the theme "A family that plays together, stays together". Mars was renowned for her crispy fried chicken, which was the favorite Sunday dinner after church and at family gatherings.

She is survived by her seven children Dale (Anne) of Minneapolis, Jon (Cheryl) of Afton, George of Minneapolis, Janet (Laurie Reardon) of Wayzata, Alan (Diane) of Monticello, Bryan (Sharon) of Annandale and Joel (Laurie) of Buffalo; fourteen grandchildren Heather, Mikael (Amanda), Stephanie (Ian) Perkins, Michele, Timothy (Rachel Weiss), Robert (Rhonda), Kari (Clint) Campbell, Ronda Reardon, Jeff Reardon, Brett (Samantha), Nicholas, Kailan, Kelsey (Nate) Blinn and Kiley; six great grandchildren Aubree, Ophelia, Guinevere, Grace, Adelyn and Savannah. In addition to her husband, Robert, of nearly 66 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Luvern and Sidney Hinz, and sister Viola Elliott.

The urn bearers will be Heather, Mikael, Timothy, and Brett Mackereth, Kelsey Mackereth Blinn and Kari Reardon-Campbell. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
