Jeanette B. Janey, age 82, of South Haven, formerly of Minneapolis, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at her home under hospice care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Kimball with Fr. Tom Olson as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the service at the church. Parish Prayers will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Jeanette Barbara Janey was born March 18, 1934 in Sobieski, Minnesota to Edward and Barbara (Kopka) Gorka. She grew up and attended school in Bowlus. On June 3, 1953 Jeanette was united in marriage to Henry Jerome Janey at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. Jeanette provided daycare in her home, worked part time for Sears in Minneapolis and worked for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Jeanette was member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Kimball and former member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Minneapolis. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her gardens, playing cards, and cooking and baking for her family and friends.
Jeanette is survived by her children, Ken (Juliane) of Afton, “C.J.” Marie of Annandale, Steve (Becky) of Richfield, Mike (Karen) of Bloomington, Diana (Jeff) of Edina, and Patrick (Elizabeth) of Woodbury; 8 grandchildren, Lauren, Tom, Alisa, Chad, Chelsea, Nick, Abby, and Ethan; 3 great grandchildren, Joey, Henry and Meredith; siblings, Darlene (Al) Schlichting of New Brighton, Rose Brezinka of Apple Valley, Phil (Allene) Gorka of North Branch, and John Gorka of Sobieski; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Henry.
Lauren Gilkerson, Tom Janey, Alisa Janey, Chad Janey, Chelsea Tollefson, Nick Janey, Abby Janey, and Ethan Janey will serve as pallbearers. St. Anne’s Choir will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
