Gloria Clara Jacobs was born November 26, 1930 to Paul and Elizabeth (Lipinski) Tholl in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Gloria grew up in St. Cloud where she attended school, graduating with the Cathedral High School Class of 1948. During high school, Gloria was a member of the St. Cloud Figure Skating Club.  Following graduation, she attended St. Cloud Business College. Gloria then moved to St. Paul where she worked for West Publishing. On June 28, 1952, Gloria was united in marriage to Fredrick “Fritz” Jacobs at St. John Cantius Church in St. Cloud. They resided in Sauk Rapids for a short while, before moving to Kimball in 1954. Fred and Gloria owned and operated Jacobs Concrete for many years until selling it to their oldest son, Jeff. Gloria worked at Herbergers in the gift wrapping and fabric departments. She also volunteered her time at the St. Cloud Hospital for 8 years, before spending the next 17 years as a rehabilitation aide as part of the Occupational Therapy team. Gloria was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church, where she served as a lector and CCD teacher. She was also a member of the Kimball American Legion Post 261, St. Cloud V.F.W. Granite Post 428, Stearns County Extension Homemakers Group and the Kimball Historical Society. Gloria enjoyed making cards, ice-skating, swimming, crocheting, rosemaling, cross-stitching, painting, and quilting. She could often be found working on a project and was always willing to try new things, including teaching some craft classes. Gloria was a fan of hockey and liked to play bingo. She also enjoyed being at the cabin near Outing, where she could go hiking, fishing, and boating. Above all, Gloria treasured the time she was able to spend with her family.
