Donald C. Stein, age 83, of Kimball died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Lakeview Gardens, Kimball.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Kimball. Fr. Thomas Olson will officiate and burial will follow at Maine Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the service, Monday, at the church.
Donald Charles Stein was born August 27, 1928 to Carl and Theresa (Osfalg) Stein at their home in Kimball. He was united in marriage to Elsie Warhol on February 23, 1952 at St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral in Minneapolis. He farmed his entire life and drove bus for Kimball Area Schools for many years. Don was a member of the Kimball Booster Club, the Kimball Rod and Gun Club and the Kimball Golf Club. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, playing pool, golfing, trapshooting, watching wrestling and other high school sports, hunting, going to casinos and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elsie; sons and daughter Ed (Cindy), John (Mary Kay), Jim (Clara), Rick (Leann) and Bob (Robin) all of Kimball and Dianne (Ralph) Schlangen of Richmond; twelve grandchildren Theresa (Trevor) Gottschalk, Stacy (Josh) Boom, Rachel, Nick, Carl, Lisa, Brandon, Dan, Ryan, Natalie, and Zach Stein and Scott Schlangen; and great grandson Jared Gottschalk. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Paul and Leo.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Nick, Carl, Dan, Brandon, Ryan and Zach Stein and Scott Schlangen. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
