Donald Edgar Kloss was born January 30, 1923 to August O. And Augusta (Treichler) Kloss in Maple Lake. Don graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1941 and from the University of Minnesota School of Engineering in 1944. After graduation, he worked for 3 years in San Diego for General Dynamics in the aviation defense field. Following that, he enlisted in the army where he was stationed in Ohio untill his honorable discharge in 1947.

After his discharge he returned to Maple lake and joined his father, August, in the construction business. Don built numerous buildings in the area and throughout the state, especially in state parks. He stayed self-employed his whole career doing general contracting work and retired in his early 60's.  Don was a member of the American Legion and an active member of Zion Lutheran Church.

In his middle 20's he met and married Marion M. Borgstrom, a Maple Lake farm girl. Their marriage was a loving one and lasted 62 years till her passing in 2011. They traveled all over the world together, walked around Maple Lake constantly for their health, raised a family, gardened and were generally inseparable. Now they are reunited forever.

Don will be remembered for his gentle personality, his big smile and finding good in everyone. He loved spending time with his family, grandkids and neighbors. He was thankful for his blessings and set an example to follow by the way he lived his life. He touched a lot of hearts, especially the way he faced his ending days. Well done, Don.

He is survived by sons, Doug (Becky)of Lake Park, Dave (Krisce) of Moorhead, and Jim (Jennifer) of Boise, ID; grandchildren Eric (Jodi), Lindsay (Brad) Santala, Todd (Laura), Rachel (Larry) Parks and Anna (Ian) Alexander; great grandchildren, Carson, Nolan, Taylor,Jade, Brooks and Eddy.
