Dolores M. Kunkel, age 87, of Annandale, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Annandale Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Timothy’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, both at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Parish prayers will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral chapel.

Dolores Magdalene Kunkel was born May 16, 1930 in Belgrade to Peter and Mary (Kunstleben) Meemken.  On October 29, 1952, Dolores was united in Marriage to Lambert Kunkel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waite Park. Their union was blessed with 11 children. They farmed and raised their family in Albion Township near Annandale. In 1983, they retired from the farm and began to spend winters in Apache Junction, AZ. They relocated to St. Cloud until Lambert died on March 6, 2005. Dolores moved to Monticello, then St. Louis Park and finally back to Annandale. She was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake and the Secular Order of Franciscans. She was involved in her community through her volunteer work at St. Benedict’s Senior Community, St. Cloud V.A. Hospital and at the Spiritual Care Department of the St. Cloud Hospital. Dolores enjoyed gardening, canning, crafting, playing cards, dancing, singing, participating in her church community and spending time with her family. She had a warm heart, a positive attitude and a smile that could light up a room.

She is survived by her children: Sandy (Richard) Clemons of Zimmerman, Cathy (John) Schaefers of Annandale, Loren and Tim of Maple Lake, Gene (Holly) of Monticello, Ken of Colorado Springs, CO, Jim (Sue) of Monticello, Matt of Brooklyn Center and Ann Johnson of Sauk Rapids. Fifteen grandchildren: Chris, Jennifer, Michael, Josh, Christine, Theresa, Anthony, Jordan, Kristian, Joseph, Megan, Forest, Alexander, Gideon and Gwen.  Seven great grandchildren: Adler, Rhea, Skye, Seth, Sabrina, Sebastian and Olivia. Sisters, Ruth (Richard) Kunkel of Maple Lake and Lenora (Tom) Hiniker of Lexington, MA; brother LeRoy (Kathy) Meemken of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law Kathy Meemken of Belle Fourche, South Dakota and sister-in-law, Sherry Meemken of Montrose, IA; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Lambert; infant son Stephen Kunkel, Siblings; Barbara Funk, Alma Pintok, Marcus Meemken and Larry Meemken.

The casket bearers will be Chris Clemons, Jennifer Hoagland, Theresa Erickson, Anthony Kunkel, Jordan Kunkel, Joseph Kunkel, Alex Kunkel, and Joseph Hopkins. Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox on keyboard; canter, Sarah Goeltz and daughters, Sandy Clemons, Cathy Schaefers, and Ann Johnson will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
