Catherine H. Helmbrecht, age 95, of Buffalo died Sunday, October 9, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Timothy’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Parish prayers will be 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Catherine H. Helmbrecht was born on May 8, 1921 in Chatham Township, Wright County to Charles and Dena (Wurm) Smith. Catherine grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On May 2, 1944, Catherine was united in marriage to William A. Helmbrecht at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Catherine was an active member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church as well as the CCW, as her faith and church were very important to her. In her spare time, Catherine enjoyed cooking, baking, and needlework. She loved to make quilts, especially for her family members. She treasured the time she was able to spend with her family.
Catherine is survived by her 3 children, Ralph and wife Nancy of Annandale, Mary Lou Helmbrecht of Buffalo, and Greg and wife Debbie of Annandale; daughter in law Sharon Helmbrecht and special friend Dan Rassat; 7 grandchildren, Chantell, Brandon, Andrea, Katie, Joel, William and Robert; 12 great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gary, grandson Brian, an infant son & daughter, and siblings, Evelyn Fobbe and Ralph, Edward, Raymond and Robert Smith.
Brandon, William, Robert, and Joel Helmbrecht, Andrea Zwilling, and Katie Braun will serve as pallbearers. Sarahand Hayley Goelz will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
