Amanda M. Mares, age 95, of Annandale, died peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at her daughter's home in South Haven.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with Fr. George Kallumkalkudy as the Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Thursday, at the church.

Amanda Marie Mares was born Dec. 6, 1919 in Kingston Township to Fritz and Ida (Maahs) Sawade. She graduated with 40 students from Annandale High School in 1938.   She married Bernard Mares on February 9, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN. They made their home in the Annandale area. Amanda was a valuable member of the community; she was a volunteer at the Senior Dining Site and Meals on Wheels for many years, and a member of the St. Ignatius Church. Amanda loved spending time in her garden and canning in the fall. Amanda loved to bake all kinds of goodies. Her passion was playing cards, whether it was playing with her family, the Bridge Club, at the Senior Center, or hosting them at home.

She is survived by her children, Ron (Dianne) Mares of Annandale, Evelyn Mares of Maple Lake, Shirley Mares (Michael Earley) of South Haven and Lorie (Matt) Steidl of St. Joseph; Grandchildren, Nicholas (Nicole) Mares, Nicole (Aaron) Link, Holly (Kevin) Abfalter and Rusty Mares; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard and son, Larry.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rose for the loving and wonderful care that was given to Amanda.

The urn bearers will be Nicholas Mares and Nicole Link.  The St. Ignatius Music Ministry will provide the music for the service.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
